Curtis died at his home in Liberty township, Lucas county, Iowa, Jan. 26, 1903 at 12:30, aged 41 years and 14 days old. He was born Jan. 12, 1862 near Norwood, where he spent his youthful life. On April 30, 1890 he was married to Miss Sadie Fletcher. In the winter of '90 and '91 she was instrumental in leading him to Christ, after which they lived a life of devotion to God for 11 months and 19 days when she was called from labor to reward. On April 7, 1897, he was married to Miss Emma Whistler, who shared his joys and sorrows alike till the Master said "It is enough, come up higher." To this union was born one little daughter, Lizzie. He leaves and aged father, six brothers and three sisters, and a broken hearted wife and daughter to mourn their loss. He was rational to the last, clear as to his future prospects. His last council to his many friends and relatives was to live right, do all the good you can and meet me in heaven. His last words were "Christ is more to me now than he said he would be." Funeral services were conducted in the U. B. church north of Norwood by Rev. M. Hulbert. Burial was in the Fletcher cemetery. Obituary courtesy of Charles M. Wright
