Description	:	Funeral services for Emma Anna Skokan Tichy of Sparta township, who died Sunday afternoon, were held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the ZCBJ Hall in Niobrara. Mrs. Tichy died at 2 p.m., Febr. 20 at the farm home, eight miles northeast of Verdigre, following another stroke. She suffered the first stroke, Febr. 4. Her death occurred on the event of her wedding anniversary. She was 61 years, 10 months and 20 days of age at the time of passing. A native of Knox county, Emma, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Skokan, had lived all her life in the Verdigre-Niobrara communities. She was born March 30, 1887 on a farm seven miles southeast of Niobrara, where she spent her childhood and received her education. On Feb. 20, 1906, she was married to Kvida Tichy. The young couple settled on a farm five miles south of Niobara, where they spent 43 years of happily married life. Surviving are her husband and six children, Adolph Tichy and Lucy (Otto) Liska of Verdigre, Sylvia (John) Dowty of Verdel, (Adela (Felix) Chvala, Evelyn (Russell) Olson and Emeline (La Monte) Kotrous of Verdigre. Also surviving are 12 grandchildren, one brother, Adolph Skokan of Niobrara and two sisters, Mary (Frank) Tichy of Niobrara and Mrs. Bessie Sukup of Walnut.
