Description	:	Frantisek "Frank" J. Skokan was born on May 16, 1844, in Sany (near Sadska) Bohemia, which is now called the Czech Republic. Frantisek J. was a cobbler in Sany, and his father Vaclav Skokan was a cobbler in Stary (Old) Kolin. Both towns are 30 or 40 miles southeast of Prague. Frantisek married Anna Safarik on July 1, 1869, in Sany. Anna's father was also a cobbler in Sany. Skokan was born on May 16, 1844, in Sany (near Sadska) Bohemia, which is now called the Czech Republic. Frantisek J. was a cobbler in Sany, and his father Vaclav Skokan was a cobbler in Stary (Old) Kolin. Both towns are 30 or 40 miles southeast of Prague. Frantisek married Anna Safarik on July 1, 1869, in Sany. Anna's father was also a cobbler in Sany. In 1878, with their first three children, Anna, Joseph, and Louis, who was but a few months old, they emigrated to the U.S, on the ship Frisia, landing in New York, November 27,1878. They eventually homesteaded in Sparta Township, Niobrara, Nebraska, because other Bohemian immigrants from Sany and Sadska also homesteaded there. They raised their eight children to adulthood: Anna Brady, Joe, Louis F., Frank Jr,, Bessie Sukup, Emma Tichy, Mary Tichy, and Adolph. There were three deaths (2 girls and 1 boy, one of which was Clara 12 years old. They are buried in a plot on the homestead). In 1908, Frank and Anna moved to Niobrara. Frank died on July 12, 1911, and is buried at L'Eau Qui Court, Niobrara, NE.
