Emma Reuther was born Jan. 26, 1905 to Jacob and Susanna nee (Dobler) Bendewald northeast of Ashley on the family homestead. She was married to Jacob Reuther on Nov. 23, 1924 in a rural church east of Ashley. They made their home on the Karl Reuther farm. Her husband Jacob died suddenly at the age of 45 in Feb. of 1947. Emma and her children continued to farm until 1970 when she moved into Ashley in 1944. Baking was very enjoyable to Emma. Especially special event cakes such as wedding cakes and birthday cakes. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Ashley. Survivors include 2 daughters Leona (J.F. Weszner) of Ashley and Phyllis (Clarence) Pleines of Woodworth, North Dakota, 1 son Clifford Reuther of Ashley, 1 daughter-in-law Wilma Reuther of Ashley. 2 sisters Martha Reuther of Ashley and Hilda Meidinger of Seattle, Washington. 5 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son Clarence Reuther, 4 sisters, 3 brothers and 3 great grandchildren. Honorary casket bearers were Nathan Weszner, Kaitlyn Weszner, Lisa Seil, Shanna Seil, Andrew Seil, Hayley Pleines, Allison Stugelmayer, McKinze Stugelmayer and Adma Stugelmayer. Casket bearers were all her grand children, Steve and Brenda Seil of Heaton, North Dakota, Kevin Pleines of Woodworth, North Dakota, Marty Pleines of Fargo, North Dakota, Terry and Jodi Weszner of Wishek, North Dakota, Glenn and Lesley Stugelmayer of La Crosse, Wisconsin.
