Freeman Dies At Home On First Ave. Was Prominent in Work of W.C.T.U. Here and Relief Corps. Mrs. Emma Freeman, prominent resident of Chico for the past twenty years, died at her home, First avenue and Arcadian street, Chico Vecino, at noon yesterday after an illness of only a week’s duration. She was a native of New York and was 79 years old. Mrs. Freeman was an active worker of the Women’s Christian Temperance Union, the Women’s relief corps of the Grand Army of the Republic, as well as the Josephine Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star, of which she was treasurer. She is survived by her sister, Mrs. Edith A. Cole, and a brother, Washington Bullard, of Orange, California, who are former residents of Chico. She also leaves three nieces and nephews, the children of a deceased brother. The funeral service will be conducted from the home in Chico Vecino at 3 o’clock tomorrow afternoon. Following the services the remains will be sent to Sacramento where they will be cremated, and together with the ashes of her daughter, Mrs. Laura King, who died here on January 5, will be sent to New York where they will be interred beside the body of the husband and father, who died several years ago. ~~~ 76-year-old Emma Bullard Freeman was interred, per the Chico Cemetery Association Records, in the plot noted, on February 11, 1924.
