Emma was born September 29, 1908 to John J. and Vera (Clark) Dixon in Harrison County, Iowa. Burial was in Mt. St. Joseph Cemetery, Anthon, Iowa. Services were held on Tuesday, July 6th, 2004, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Anthon with Rev. Terry Roder officiating. She graduated from St. Joseph High School in Anthon, Iowa, and went on to receive her nursing degree from St. Joseph School of Nursing in Sioux City, Iowa. On August 16, 1932, she was united in marriage to Thomas J. "Tom" Coyne, Sr., and together the couple raised their family of nine children in Anthon. Emma was a public health nurse for Woodbury County, Iowa, from 1959-1969. She and Tom moved to Manson in 1979. She was a lifelong member of the Catholic Daughters of America. She loved playing Scrabble, gardening, and writing letters to family and friends. Her many cards and letters revealed her wit and love of family. She is remembered for her tremendous strength, kindness and generosity. Survivors include her daughters, Mary & Joseph Casillas of Chicago, Illinois, Jean & Gerald Naughton of Omaha, Nebraska, Sister Julie Coyne of Sioux City, Kathy Dieschel of West Allis, Wisconsin, Nancy & Hank Brown of Dripping Springs, Texas, Sheila & Clarence Bradley of Manson, and Colleen & Terry Wright of Sioux City; her sons, Thomas "Jay" & Jeanette Coyne Jr. of Temecula, California, and Michael Coyne of Waterloo, Iowa; 27 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Mary Weber of Sioux City, Iowa, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Tom, her parents; an infant son Francis; her brothers Edward, Leo, Francis, Cletus, Raymond, Paul, and James Dixon; and sisters Bernice O'Connell and Patricia Lacey.
