Description	:	Emma E. Topping, 95, rural Stockport, died at Jefferson Co. Hospital long term care unit. She had been in failing health for some time. Mrs. Topping was born near Lockridge to Swedish immigrant parents Charles and Anna (Carlson) Nelson. Most of her early life was spent in the Birmingham community and she graduated from Birmingham High School. She had been in failing health for some time. Mrs. Topping was born near Lockridge to Swedish immigrant parents Charles and Anna (Carlson) Nelson. Most of her early life was spent in the Birmingham community and she graduated from Birmingham High School. She worked as a clerk in Corry's Store for several years before marrying Clem Topping of Birmingham, Aug. 12,1924 in Chariton. They moved to rural Stockport in 1929. Mrs. topping lived most of her life in Jefferson and Van Buren counties. Mrs. Topping was a member of the Birmingham Presbyterian Church, a charter member ot the Birmingham American Legion Auxiliary and a past active member of the Van Buren Historical Society. She was the last surviving member of a family of eight children. She was preceded in death by five sisters and two brothers. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Topping is survived by two daughters, Dorothy Bell of Fairfield and Charlotte Olsen of Babylon, Long Island, New York. Eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren also survive. Memorials have been established to the Birmingham Presbyterian Church or the Stockport Library. Obit.
