Description	:	“Mrs. Emma Davis was found dead at her home on McDonald Street Saturday morning shortly before 11 o’clock, where Mrs. Margaret Peterson, who occupies part of Mrs. Davis’ home found her lying on the bathroom floor. She called Dr. J.C. Freed, who said Mrs. Davis had been dead some time and it would be necessary to hold a coroner’s inquest. Coroner Frank Shelby was called and returned a verdict that Mrs. Davis’ death was due to a heart attack. From all appearances Mrs. Davis felt as well as usual Saturday morning and had been busy about her household duties. Mrs. Davis was born June 2, 1867, in Warren County. She came to Attica to reside when she married Jot Davis, a well-known contractor of this city. She was a well beloved woman of this community. In her sweet and unassuming way she touched the lives of others bringing happiness to many friends with her love and thoughtfulness. Her virtues are many and are deeply recorded on the hearts of her friends who will always remember her for her loving deeds. She was a member of the Order of the Easter Star, and was serving Attica Chapter 125 as its chaplain at the time of her death. She belonged to the Attica-Logan Home Economics Club and was a member of the Attica Christian Church, where she was a faithful attendant and worker in all it organizations. Her husband and adopted daughter preceded her in death several years ago. She is survived by her brother, S.M. Evans, of Walton, Indiana, three sisters, Mrs. Ida Thompson, of Hoopeston, Illinois, Mrs. Lydia Railsback, of South Bend, Mrs. Rose Cockran of Whitestown; a half-brother, A.A. Evans of Williamsport; and a half-sister, Mrs. James Swisher of Emington, Illinois. Funeral services were held this afternoon at 2 o’clock p.m. at the Christian Church. The Rev. Fred Chelan, conducting the service. Burial was made in Riverside Cemetery beside her husband. The officers of Attica Chapter 125 O.E.S. conducted the Eastern Star Burial service at the grave. The pall bearers were Eastern Star brothers. Coffing and Robinson were in charge.” – October 22, 1936
