McDonnell. Interment was in Mountain View. Mrs. Michels was born in Fon du Lac County, Wis., on June 12, 1865. She was married there to Peter Michels on February 26, 1889, and in April of that year they came to Montana, settle in on the ranch up the Boulder which was to be their home all their lives. Mr. Michels died in 1912 and Mrs. Michels continued to operate the ranch until her last illness. Previously, before 1900, Mrs. Michels had cared for her children and operated the ranch, which included around 200 head of cattle and some sheep, during the summer months when Mr. Michels was employed as a gold miner in the E. H. Cowles mines at Old Independence above Contact. After Mrs. Michels became bedfast over a year ago, she was cared for at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Fred Ellison. She passed away early Wednesday morning of last week. Other survivors are another daughter, Miss Amelia Michels, also of Big Timber; a sister, Mrs. Anna Wagner of Wisconsin, and a brother, Nich Haensgen; also four grandchildren, John Ellison of Yuma, Ariz., and Archie, Stuart, and Ellen Ellison of Big Timber, and a great-grandson, Johnnie Ellison.
