Emma Helen Ames Harvey, an old time settler of Howard county, died at her home in Lincoln, Neb., Saturday, June 5th, in her 75th year. Mrs. Harvey was born December 10, 1851, on a farm near Bronson, Mich. She was married to Robert Harvey, Howard county's first surveyor in 1872 and came here as a pioneer to live and the family has considered St. Paul as its real home. Emma Helen Ames Harvey, an old time settler of Howard county, died at her home in Lincoln, Neb., Saturday, June 5th, in her 75th year. Mrs. Harvey was born December 10, 1851, on a farm near Bronson, Mich. She was married to Robert Harvey, Howard county's first surveyor in 1872 and came here as a pioneer to live and the family has considered St. Paul as its real home. However, the Harvy family moved to Lincoln twenty-three years ago where the late Robert Harvey was state surveyor and he remained in that office up to the time of his death. Mrs. Harvey was a member of the Farragut corps, Degree of Honor, and the Eastern Star. She is survived by one daughter and two sons, Mrs. Maybelle G. Sowerwine, of Calpella, Cal., and Floran E. Harvey, of Chicago, Ill., and James A. Harvey, of Lincoln, Neb., all of whom were present at the last rites. Mrs. Robert Harvey, the husband, died November 1, 1923. The body was brought to this city Monday and funeral services were conducted Tuesday morning at 10 a.m. from the First M. E. church, Rev. Patterson officiating. Interment will be in the Elmwood cemetery. ******* The Palmer Journal, June 10, 1926, page 4, transcribed by Linda Berney Mrs. Robert Harvey, of Lincoln, was buried at St. Paul on Tuesday of this week. Mr. Harvey surveyed this country in an early day, and he and his wife came to Howard County in 1872.
