Born in Chicago, on December 4, 1889, one of six children of John and Kathrina Stayskal. She attended elementary school near her home, later moving with her parents to Vining and helping in her father's general store. She returned to Chicago and took employment in Wiebald Dept. store. Born in Chicago, on December 4, 1889, one of six children of John and Kathrina Stayskal. She attended elementary school near her home, later moving with her parents to Vining and helping in her father's general store. She returned to Chicago and took employment in Wiebald Dept. store. In 1910 she married Fred E. Vitek and they made their home on his mother's farm northwest of Chelsea. They moved into the town of Chelsea in 1921. Mrs. Vitek is survived by three sons, Leander and Floyd, Cedar Rapids, and Elmer , Chicago ; two daughters, Mrs. Elma Hanzelka, Chelsea, and Mrs. Lillian Miller, Chicago; a sister, Mary; a half-brother, George Kutchanek, Belle Plaine; ten grandchildren and a number of great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sons Leo and Clayton in infancy, two sisters, Albina and Julia, and two brothers, Frank and John. She suffered a slight stroke in 1947 and again in 1959 and spent some time in the Marengo hospital before being moved to the Tama nursing home. Funeral services were held from Hrabak Funeral home, Chelsea, Thursday, May 4, at 2 p.m. with the Rev. , Alvia H Boettcher pastor of First Congregational church, Belle Plaine, officiating. Mrs. John Kaloupek was organist. Pall bearers were Milo Petra. Fred Musel, Charles Upah, Ernest A. Wilkinson, Orlyn M. Blinkensop and Joseph Musel. Burial was in National cemetery, Vining.
