Carl, 87, died Saturday, March 17, at James Valley Nurising Home in Redfield. She had been a resident of the Home since June 28, 1971. Funeral seravics were held Tuesday afternoon, at 2 o'clock, at the Reck funeral Home, which had charge of arrangements. Officiating at the services wer the Rev. David Belzer and the Rev. Don Heeringa. Burial was in the G.A.R. Cemetery. A life-time resident of Hand County, with the exception of the two years in Redfield, Mrs. Carl was born on a farm north of Miller October 11, 1885, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Abraham Snyder, and one of eleven children. When she was six years old, the family moved to a farm near Hand City, later moving to a farm i Carlton township. She worked for a time in Miller, and on April 3, 1907 she was married to John Vens, and they made their home on a farm n the Miller area, and they were the parents of two sons. Mr. Vens died in 1909, and in 1911 she was married to Robert Carl. They established their home on a farm in Carlton township. Following her husband's death in 1924, she continued living on the farm with her family, and despite poor health continued her farming operations. In 1950 she moved to Miller, where she lived until entering the nursing home. Mrs. Carl is survived by four sons, Bernard Vens of Miller, Pete Vens, Ree Heights, Howard Carl, St. Lawrence, and Percy Carl, Savannah, Ill.; one daughter, Mrs. Emerald Reinhardt (Mildred), of Miller; ten grandchildren, and four great grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Bessie Hargens, Miller, Mrs Grace Curry, Appleton, Minn., and Mrs. Francis Grimm, Perkins, Okla.
