F. and Maria Schreiber at Holton, Kansas, on December 20, 1867. She was one of nine children born into the home. Three brothers and two sisters preceded her in death. F. and Maria Schreiber at Holton, Kansas, on December 20, 1867. She was one of nine children born into the home. Three brothers and two sisters preceded her in death. On March 24, 1892, Emma was united in marriage to Fred Stous at Holton, Kansas. They established their home on a farm 4 1/2 miles northeast of Holton. Two daughters, Thelga and Esther and one son Wallace, came to bless their home. Esther died in infancy. They shared the blessings and trials of a Christian home together for more than 53 years. Her husband was taken from the home on April 11, 1945. After his death, mother Stous and Thelga moved into Holton establishing their home two blocks east of her birth place. At an early age she received Christ as her personal Savior and united with the Evangelical Church. For many years she was a faithful Sunday school teacher. Later, she was a member of the Ladies' Bible Class. The work of her Church and Sunday School always had first place in her life. She was faithful in her attendance at Church until failing health would not permit her to attend. She was a quiet, consistent Christian and a devoted wife and mother. After having been confined to her bed for several months, Mother Stous was called from her home in Holton on Sunday morning, February 25, 1951, having reached the good age of 83 years, 2 months and 5 days. She leaves to mourn her passing, one daughter Thelga of the home; her son Wallace and his wife Mina of Holton; two grandsons Harold Stous of Kansas City, Missouri, and Marvin Stous of Holton; two great grandchildren, David and Cheryl Stous; two sisters, Mrs. Rosetta Schwalm of Baldwin, Kansas, and Mrs. Henry Zeisset of Leonardville, Kansas; one brother Edwin Schreiber of Overbrook, Kansas, and many other relatives, neighbors, and friends. Pallbearers were Tom and Oscar Hill, Ray Plantz, Henry Haag, Fred Bareiss, L. M. Lueck, Frank Davis. Music was furnished by Mrs. Chas. Haag and Miss Tena Stoll. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Mercer Funeral Home. Rev. C. O. Burgert officiated. Burial was in the Holton cemetery.
