Description	:	Emma L. Elwood was born in Addison, N.Y., March 27, 1853 and passed out of this life Sunday, January 22, 1922 at Fairfield, Neb., at the age of 68 years, 9 months and 25 days. When she was 15 her parents left New York and located at Harrison, Ill. Here she resided with them until January 3, 1872, when she was united in marriage with Ephraim E. Lake. They came overland to take up a homestead in Clay County, Neb., where they ever after resided. To this union were born nine children, five of whom preceded the parents... Read More	Emma L. Elwood was born in Addison, N.Y., March 27, 1853 and passed out of this life Sunday, January 22, 1922 at Fairfield, Neb., at the age of 68 years, 9 months and 25 days. When she was 15 her parents left New York and located at Harrison, Ill. Here she resided with them until January 3, 1872, when she was united in marriage with Ephraim E. Lake. They came overland to take up a homestead in Clay County, Neb., where they ever after resided. To this union were born nine children, five of whom preceded the parents in death. The family located six miles south of Sutton and resided there till 1891, when they moved to Edgar and here they lived until the death of Mr. Lake sixteen years ago. After this Mrs. Lake went to Fairfield to live with her daughter, Mrs. Guy McLaughlin. In early life she united with the Methodist Church and ever after lived a consistent Christian. Left to mourn her departure are four children, Jesse R. Lake and Mrs. Olive Caldwell of Edgar and Mrs. Lula McLaughlin and Frank E. Lake of Fairfield, sixteen grandchildren, two sisters, Mrs. G. E. Walroth of Enid, Okla., and Mrs. Ella U. Bowman of Omaha, one brother-in-law, W. D. Shike of Lincoln and many other relatives and friends. One sister, Ida J. Shike, passed away two years ago.
