Description	:	Ida Jane Elwood was born in New York state July 8, 1858. Came with her parents to Clay County, Nebraska, June 1872. She married Wm D. Shike Nov 12, 1879, who still survives her. To this union three sons were born; Dr. J. Ray, of University Place, Dr. William E., of Gering; and Lee Owen of Aurora, Nebraska. She also leaves to mourn her loss, three sisters, Mrs. Ella U. Bowman of Omaha, Mrs. Emma E. Lake of Fairfield, Nebraska and her twin sister, Mrs. Adi M. Walroth of Enid, Okla. Mrs. Shike was converted and joined the M. E. Church when ten years of age. She lived a Christian life loved her church and her Bible which made her the devoted wife and mother that she was. For more than twelve years she has been a patient sufferer and for the past year has been comparatively helpless. She found great comfort in her bible and in its promises which she continued to repeat until speach (sic) was indistinct. On Wednesday morning, Nov 19 she peacefully passed away into that land where pain and sorrow have no abode. The funeral was held at the residence this morning after which the remains were taken to Edgar for burial. Dr, J. F. Robinson preached the funeral sermon. University Place News. Those who were present at the interment in Edgar are, W. D. Shike, of University Place, Dr. Wm E. Shike of Gering; Lee Shike of Aurora, Nebr. Dr. Ray Shike and wife of University Place, Nebr.; Mr and Mrs. G. E. Wolrath of Enid, Okla, Mrs. B. F. Bowman of Omaha; Mrs. Emma Lake of Fairfield.
