She graduated from Mathews High School and attended Keys Business College. Emma Lee was employed by Newport News Shipbuilding and Drydock Company, where she retired in 1997. Read More	March 21, 2002 MATHEWS — Emma Lee Rowe Knight, 68, died Wednesday, March 20, 2002. She was born on Gwynn's Island and a lifelong resident of Mathews County. She graduated from Mathews High School and attended Keys Business College. Emma Lee was employed by Newport News Shipbuilding and Drydock Company, where she retired in 1997. She was a member of Gwynn's Island Baptist Church and The Paul Townsend Memorial Sunday School Class of Central United Methodist Church. She was also a member of the Mathews Woman's Club, Oriental Chapter No. 30 OES and treasurer of the Gwynn's Island Civic League. She was preceded in death by her parents, George Vernon Rowe Sr. and Addie Diggs Rowe; sister, Christine R. Holloway; and brothers, Wilson Rowe and George V. "Buddy" Rowe Jr. She is survived by husband, Alvin S. Knight; four sisters, Della R. Forrest, Elleanor R. Stephens, Minnie R. Williams and Ruby R. Atkins; three brothers, Jack Rowe, Shelton C. Rowe and Julian Rowe; nine nieces and eight nephews. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, March 22, at Foster-Faulkner Funeral Home, Mathews, with burial to follow in Gwynn's Island Cemetery, Grimstead. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. tonight at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to the Mathews Volunteer Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 723, Mathews, VA 23109 or to the building fund of Gwynn's Island Baptist Church, P.O. Box 26, Gwynn, VA 23066 or to Central United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 297, Mathews, VA 23109.
