MARION - Emma Leigh Meredith Edwards White went home to be with her Heavenly Father and her beloved son Meredith Watson Edwards on Sunday, January 6, 2019 at Carolinas Hospital System of Florence. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 8, 2019 at Marion Baptist Church, burial will follow at Devotion Gardens Cemetery. Emma Leigh was born in 1935 in Centenary to the late Martha Eugenia Rogers Meredith and Roy Meredith, the youngest of nine children. Mrs. White retired from Coastal Oil after 26 years of service. She was a member of Marion Baptist Church, Joy Sunday School Class, Cooper Floyd Prayer Group, Homebound Committee, Caregivers and Hospitality Committee, Senior Citizens Group, Glory Singers and worked at the Church Media Center. She also volunteered at Helping Hands Soup Kitchen and Judgement House. She was also a member of Marion County Museum, Marion County Arts Council and Historical Marion Revitalization Association, Marion Chamber of Commerce. Mrs. White enjoyed visiting nursing homes, the homebound, her Thursday night Bridge supper club, knitting circle, her Monday night Canasta Club and her Wednesday afternoon Canasta Club, reading and being with friends. Emma Leigh was always the happiest when she was with her children and their families; especially her three grandchildren when she lovingly referred to as her "Darling Angels", always dedicated to attend the many church, school, scout and sports activities. Surviving are a son, David Allen (Yvonne) Edwards II; daughter, Jayne Leigh White (Darin) Jennings; three siblings, Laura Jean Gibson, Betty Jo Parrish and Furman Long; and 3 grandchildren. She was predeceased by her precious son, Meredith; and siblings, Katie Meredith, Bishop Meredith, Charlie Meredith, Roy Meredith, and David Meredith. - Richardson Funeral Home
