Davis, June, 1942. While still in high school Emma met her future husband, her school teacher, Jasper Davis. They were married on Apr 05 or Apr 18, 1874 in Utica, Crawford Co, Wisconsin. Later that same year they moved to Hiawatha, Kansas, and settled into a home on the corner of 5th & Miami. All 10 of their children were born in that house. They were divorced in 1900 or 1906 & neither Emma nor Jasper ever remarried. She later moved to the Yakima, WA area where two of her daughter's were living. IN A SOCIAL WAY Mrs. E. L. Davis left for Yakima, Wash., Sunday noon purchasing a ticket on a thru Burlington train from Falls City for $57.78. She came to Hiawatha immediately after her marriage in Wisconsin in 1874. The next year they purchased the house, which she has just sold, from her father-in-law, A. E. Davis, when he left for Oregon, and she has resided in it since, tho it was moved from the lot east of it many years ago. A. E. Davis bot the property from J. P. Bause, once mayor of Hiawatha. In this same old house, 505 Miami street, Mrs Davis has made her home for 44 years. In it her 10 children were born; 8 of them living, but only one, Ross, living in Hiawatha. So, left entirely alone, she left the old home, and has gone a long journey to seek a new one with her dutiful daugh, Eunice Anderson, among the mountains, orchards and grand natural scenery of the far west.--A. FUNERALS Funeral services for Mrs. Emma Letitia Davis, 78, who died Tuesday morning at 306 South Third avenue will be held in Shaw and Sons chapel at 1:30 o'clock Friday afternoon. The Rev. Glen Hutton will preach and burial will be in Terrace Heights Memorial park. Mrs. Davis' home was in Naches and she was brought to Yakima recently for medical care. The family includes three sons, J. Stanley Davis of Kansas City, MO., Ross H. Davis of Hiawatha, Kas., and Benjamin A. Davis of San Jose, Cal.; five daughters, Mrs. Edward Brown of Mt. Clemens, Mich., Mrs. Bert Chaffee of Hiawatha, Mrs. Wesley Catuska of Pomona, Kas., and Mrs. H. L. Allen and Mrs. Bernard Anderson of Yakima; a sister, Mrs. William Price; 33 grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. —Yakima Morning Herald (Yakima, WA) Wed. Sept 18, 1935.
