(Source: Thayer County, NE Marriage Records) ====================== The Belleville Telescope (Belleville, KS), Thursday, August 27, 1964; pg. 15 Emma Maria Sophia Gebers Marquart, daughter of George Fredrich Gebers and his wife, Minna (nee) Sasse, was born December 25, 1886, in Nemaha County, Neb., and died August 19, 1964. She had attained the age of 77 years, seven months and 19 days. She was baptized on Jaunary (sic) 2, 1887, is St, John Lutheran church (sic). At the age of seven years she, with her parents, moved to Nuckols (sic) county (sic), Neb. She was confirmed on April 4, 1901, in St. Peter Lutheran church (sic) in Byron. On April 16, 1907 she was united in marriage with Bernhard Deitrick Fredrick Marquart. This union was blessed with the births of seven children, all of whom are living. They made their home on a farm west of Byron. In October, 1948, they retired to Byron. Mr. and Mrs. Marquart observed their 50th wedding anniversary on April 26, 1957. Emma Marquart became ill with a heart ailment in March 1958, following her husband's death on January 8th of that year. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ben; and an adopted broter (sic) Henry. She leaves to mourn her passing: two daughters, Lydia of Byron, and Theresa (Mrs.. Edward Peters) of Hardy: five sons, Edward of Hardy, Wilbert, Lester and Raymond of Byron, Dr. Oscar Marquart of Alamagordo, N. Mex.,; 16 grandchildren, three great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.. Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. John E. Sitler at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 22, 1964, at St- Paul Lutheran church (sic), Byron. Interment was made in St. Paul Cemetery, Bryon, Neb.
