Paulsen, 92, of Wyoming, Iowa died on Monday, February 20,1995 at the Anamosa Care Center in Anamosa, Iowa. Emma Matilda Paulsen was born on February 24,1902, near Wyoming, Iowa, the oldest daughter of August and Catherine Petersen Carstensen. She attended country school west of Wyoming and also the Wyoming Public School. In the early years, she worked at Hanold's General Store in Wyoming. On March 1, 1932, Emma married Wolber Paulsen. They made their home on a farm southwest of Wyoming, Iowa. They farmed until 1968, when they moved into Wyoming, Iowa. Her husband died in February of 1974. Emma was a member of the United Methodist Church and the Women's Circle, both of Wyoming, Iowa; and was a member of a local card club. Emma is survived by two sons, August Paulsen, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa and Tom Paulsen, of Wyoming, Iowa; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Hertha Bahnsen, and Dora Dusanek, both of Wyoming, Iowa and Minna (Mrs. Max) Thomsen, of Olin, Iowa; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were conducted on Thursday, February 23, 1995 at 11:00 a.m. at the Hayden Funeral Home in Wyoming, Iowa with the Rev. Roger Wilson officiating. Burial was in the Wyoming Cemetery, Wyoming, Iowa. Casket bearers were Alan Hansen, Greg Paulsen, Brad Paulsen, Bryan Paulse, Sam Atkins and Donald Carstensen.
