In early infancy, she was baptized in the St. Peter's Lutheran church near Elk Creek October 15, 1882, by Rev. A. W. Bergt. She grew up in the Elk Creek vicinity and became a member of the St. Peter's church when she was confirmed by Rev. H. F. Grupe in 1897. She was married to Mr. Gottula January 24, 1901. This union was blessed with eight children, of whom the oldest, Erwin, died six years ago. The family made its home on a farm near Elk Creek. Thirteen years ago, Mr. and Mrs. Gottula moved to Tecumseh where Mrs. Gottula lived until her death. She remained a member of St. Peter's Lutheran church after confirmation and belonged to the Elk Creek Ladies Aid. Survivors are her husband, Chris; seven children, Clarence Gottula of Yuma, Colo., Mrs. Elda Peters, Lester Gottula and Norman Gottula of Elk Creek, Mrs. Verna Robison of Tecumseh Mrs. Mildred Floerke of Sterling and Mrs. Margaret Peek of Shreveport, La.; 22 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren; and a brother, Henry Trute of Yuma, Colo. Funeral services were conducted Saturday at the St. Peter's Lutheran church by Rev. J. Heins. The church octette sang "Jerusalem, Thou City Fair and High." Burial was in the church cemetery."
