Ailing the past year, she took seriously ill Saturday evening, and was taken to the hospital Monday morning. Daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gerhart Voss, she was born on a farm in Colfax county, March 30, 1874, and there spent her girlhood. Her marriage to August Grotelueschen took place Dec. 8, 1890, at St. John's Lutheran church north of here. After their marriage they moved to the farm where Mrs. Grotelueschen was living at the time of her death. A Lutheran, she was a member of the ladies aid society, although not active in recent years. Surviving are two sons, Allie of Central City, and Herbert at home; a daughter, Mrs. Donald E. Kyes of Portland, Ore., three sisters, Mrs. P.C. Somers of Bloomington, Ill.; Mrs. John Bauman of Richland, and Mrs. Henry Newman of Columbus; three brothers, Louis Voss of Fremont, Carl Voss of Columbus, and Gerhard Voss, who has not been heard from in several years; and seven grandchildren. Mr. Grotelueschen died in 1936, and a son, Douglas, a brother, and a sister, preceded her in death. Funeral arrangements will be made tomorrow. The body is at the Gass Funeral home. [The Daily Telegram, December 6, 1941, pg. 8, col. 2] Services for Mrs. Emma Grotelueschen, 67, Richland farm woman, who died Monday at St. Mary's hospital, were held at 1:30 p.m. yesterday at the family home six miles north of Richland, and at 2 p.m. at St. John's Lutheran church, Rev. J.N. Marxen, pastor, officiated, and burial was in the parish cemetery. Pallbearers were Fred Legler, Fred Oltmann, Fred Schindler, Albert Loseke, and Albert Lueke, all of Schuyler, and Dan Baumann of Richland. Out-of-town relatives and friends attending were Mr. and Mrs. Werner Sanders, Mrs. Louis Sanders, and Mrs. Harry Sanders, all of Creston, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Brandes of Central City, Mr. and Mrs. Edward Held of Fullerton, Mrs. John Howe of Omaha, Mrs. Emil Lueke and Mr. and Mrs. Louis Voss, and Mrs. Virgil Geno, all of Fremont, David Gayle of Central City, Mrs. Donald Keyes of Portland, Mr. and Mrs. I. Kovar of Howells.
