Emmett was born June 6, 1924 near Amherst, Nebraska to George and Louisa (Rusch) Maul. Emmett graduated from Amherst (NE.) High School in 1942. After graduating from high school, Emmett played the saxophone and clarinet in several bands in Iowa and Nebraska for six years. Emmett was born June 6, 1924 near Amherst, Nebraska to George and Louisa (Rusch) Maul. Emmett graduated from Amherst (NE.) High School in 1942. After graduating from high school, Emmett played the saxophone and clarinet in several bands in Iowa and Nebraska for six years. Emmett married Marvlyn Daake on August 25, 1944 in Amherst, Nebraska and she passed away in 1984. He then married Zola Johnson on April 12, 1985 in Gibbon, Nebraska. Emmett owned and operated Maul Oil and Implement, Amherst, Nebraska for 19 years with his brother Harvey. He also worked as a welder for Nebraska Power Service from 1968 until he retired in 1986. They enjoyed traveling together and spending their winters in Arizona. Emmett enjoyed bowling and working crossword puzzles. He had a quick wit and dry sense of humor. Emmett was a member of the First Lutheran Church, Kearney, Nebraska, the Kearney (NE.) Eagle's Club, and the flying farmers. Emmett is survived by: wife Zola Maul of Kearney, Nebraska; sons, Emmett J. Maul, Jr. and his wife Carol Jean of Kearney, Nebraska and Don L. Maul and his wife Susan of South Sioux City, Nebraska; grandchildren, John Maul and his wife Petrina of Kearney, Nebraska, Joe Maul and his wife Mishelle of Kearney, Nebraska, Jennifer Schmitz and her husband Aaron of Lincoln, Nenraska, Brad Maul and his wife Irene of Nashville, Tennessee and Deanne Caniglia of Omaha, Nebraska; ten great grandchildren; step-children; David Dahlgren and his wife Mary of Holdrege, Nebraska, Doug Dahlgren and his wife Sandy of Holdrege, Nebraska, Brenda Horn and her husband Steve of Grand Island, Nebraska and Mindy Burton and her husband Kevin of Lincoln, Nebraska; seven step-grandchildren; 8 step-great grandchldren and a host of family and friends. Emmett was preceded in death by: first wife, Marvlyn Maul; daughter, Peggy Sue Maul; infant grandson Jeffrey Harrington; four brothers and one sister. Interment was in Riverdale Cemetery, Riverdale, Nebraska.
