Description	:	Emmett L. Racus, 82, a lifelong Wenatchee Valley resident, passed away Sunday, Sept. 14, 1997, at his residence in East Wenatchee. He was born on Feb. 24, 1915, to Elmer and Gertrude (Barnett) Racus in Wenatchee. He attended Wenatchee schools and graduated from Wenatchee High School in 1934. He was married to Jane Preston in the... Read More	Emmett L. Racus, 82, a lifelong Wenatchee Valley resident, passed away Sunday, Sept. 14, 1997, at his residence in East Wenatchee. He was born on Feb. 24, 1915, to Elmer and Gertrude (Barnett) Racus in Wenatchee. He attended Wenatchee schools and graduated from Wenatchee High School in 1934. He continued his education at Wenatchee Business College where he studied accounting. Following college, he worked for a short time as bookkeeper for the Welfare Department in East Wenatchee prior to going to work as a bookkeeper at the Chelan County Courthouse. He was married to Jane Preston in the early 1950s in Wenatchee, where they made their home. In the late 1950s, he went to work as secretary and treasurer for the Bureau of Reclamation. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jane Racus, in 1962, and in the mid-1960s he moved to make his home in East Wenatchee. On Sept. 25, 1971, he was married to Bertha C. Tillberg in East Wenatchee. Emmett retired from the Bureau of Reclamation in 1978 and they continued to make their home in East Wenatchee. In November of 1995, he was preceded in death by his wife, Bertha Racus. He had attended Grace Lutheran Church in Wenatchee, was a longtime active member and past treasurer of the Wenatchee Kiwanis Club and a former member and past president of the Active Club. He is survived by his two sons, Jeffrey Racus, Vancouver, Wash., and Roger Racus, Barstow, Calif.; three stepchildren Karen Meyn, Maynard, Mass., Jim Pulsipher, St. Paul, Minn., and Sara Rusten, Kent; two sisters, Frances Armstrong and Bonnie Lannoye, both of East Wenatchee; one brother, Leo Racus, East Wenatchee; one sister-in-law, Violet Racus, Spokane; and two grandsons, James Racus and Seth Tate. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jane, in 1962; his wife, Bertha, in 1995; two brothers, Carl and Elmer Racus; and one sister, Blanche Racus. Arrangements are by Telford's Chapel of the Valley, East Wenatchee.
