He was born October 6, 1926 in Moniteau County, Missouri to Emmett and Clara McCollester. He received a degree from the University of the Ozarks at Clarksville, Arkansas in 1948. He served in the US Air Force in World War II and also the Korean conflict in 1950. He was active in real estate brokerage and investment in the Fort Smith area. Of special interest to him was the 2:42 group at Central Christian Church. Immediate family members surviving him are a stepson, Mark McLarty and his wife Carla, of Fayetteville; a step daughter, Melissa Elder and her husband David, of Arkoma, Oklahoma and four grandchildren, Daniel and Amanda McLarty and Michael and Corey Elder. Also surviving him is a sister, Dorothy White of Roseville California; a brother Warren McCollester and his wife Kathryn of North Dartmouth, Massachusetts; a sister in law, Billie Weiss of Roland, Oklahoma and numerous nephews and nieces and great nephews and nieces. Preceding him in death are his wife Annabeth; a sister, Ruth Oakes and a brother Ray McCollester. Funeral service will be 1:00 PM, Thursday, November 15, 2012 at Edwards Funeral Home chapel. Immediately after the service, interment will be held at Cole's Chapel cemetery near Branch, Arkansas. Visitation will be November 14, 2012 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Edwards Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Jay and Steve Young, Rodney and Kevin McCollester, Dan McLarty and Corey Elder. Services are under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.
