Read More	"SERVICES HELD HERE LAST WEEK FOR ENCY DILLON Former Resident of Evergreen Neighborhood Passed Away At Des Moines" Mrs. Ency C. Dillon, widow of the late Charles W. Dillon, formerly of the Evergreen Community near Lamoni, passed away at the home of her daughter, Miss E. May Dillon in Des Moines, Iowa, early Sunday morning, July 22, 1945. She had lived In Des Moines for the past eight years and previous to that was an early settler in the vicinity of Lamoni, Iowa, having lived on the Dillon farm some forty-three years. Mrs. Dillon had reached the age of eighty-seven years, eleven months, and fourteen days. She was born near Sandwich, Illinois, August 8, 1857 and lived there until young womanhood. She married Charles W. Dillon of Lamoni, Iowa, at Sandwich, Illinois on August 4, 1881. President Joseph Smith of the Reorganized Church of Latter Day Saints officiated at this ceremony. She had served as organist for her church a number of years and was associated with the late Brother F. O. Pitt who was chorister for the church at that time. Many years she served her church with her various musical talents during her more than seventy years as a member. Six children were born to this home: Martha D. (Mrs. William Kaestneri, Roy E. formerly of Lamoni, now deceased, Emory W. formerly of Stroner, Wyoming now deceased. Zaide E., also deceased, E. May Dillon of Des Moines and David, who died in infancy. There are eleven surviving grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Three grandsons are serving in the armed forces, two of whom are overseas. Funeral services were held at the Hamilton Funeral Home in Des Moines, Wednesday, July 25, following that burial was held at the Rose Hill Cemetery in Lamoni. Elder Frank A. Fry, Pastor of the Des Moines Branch delivered the sermon and Elder Henry A. Castings assisted in the service. Two beautiful solos by Mrs. Helen Scott Harrington. "My Work is Done," by Bond and "Rest in the Lord," from the Elijah were sung as fitting tribute to a life well lived. Mr and Mrs William Kaestner, Miss E. May Dillon, Mrs. Raymond Cousins a granddaughter of Independence, Mo., and son Frederick, and Miss Margaret A. Ones of Des Moines, a devoted friend of the family, accompanied the body to Lamoni for burial. Elder Frank A. Fry of Des Moines and Mr. Frank Kaestner of Lamoni, also accompanied the family.
