ROY DILLON PASSES "Succumbs To Pneumonia Friday After Short Illness At Home West Of Lamoni" On Friday evening of last week Roy Dillon, farmer living west of Lamoni, died at his home after a short illness, suffering from pneumonia. Cheville. The obituary follows: ROY EWING DILLON Roy Ewing Dillon, son of the late Charles Warrington and Ency C. Dillon, was born May 10, 1886, at Colo, Iowa. When four years old he and his parents moved to Lamoni, Iowa, and lived continuously in the community on their farm home until the day he passed away, January 28, 1937. At eight years of age, he was baptized a member of the Reorganized Latter Day Saint Church in the Evergreen community and was confirmed in membership by Elder Henry A. Stebbins. Roy is the second child in the family, the first being Mrs. Martha Kaestner of Des Moines. There were five brothers and sisters, three of whom have preceded him in death. An infant brother, David, youngest of the family passed on at birth. His brother, Emory W. passed on at Spokane, Wash., April 1, 1935, and a sister, Zaide (then Mrs. Earl Jones of Lamoni) died May 30 of the same year. His father passed away March 4, 1920. He leaves to mourn his death, his mother, Mrs. Ency C. Dillon of Lamoni, two sisters of Des Moines, Mrs. Wm. Kaestner and Miss May Dillon; 11 nieces and nephews, a host of relatives, and countless friends. He has been a constant source of happiness and inspiration for good to all who knew him and was a faithful son, a loving brother, and true friend. Out of town friends who attended the Roy Dillon funeral Monday were Betty McDonald, a niece of the deceased, Herman Paul, Mrs. C. T. Kirkwood, and Mrs. Carrie Germer, all of Des Moines. ...Miss May Dillon and Mrs. Will Kaestner were in Lamoni Monday attending the funeral of their brother, Roy Dillon. Mrs. C. W. Dillon, mother of the deceased, returned to Des Moines with Miss Dillon and Mrs. Kaestner and will make her home there. Roy's middle name is his mother's maiden name, Ewing. That is on his death and birth certificates and in cemetery records. However, he signed Roy Ewings Dillon on his WW I draft registration card and that is inscribed on his headstone.
