Read More	Wichita Eagle, The (KS) - November 17, 1985 Deceased Name: ENOS JESSE DIVELBLISS PROUD OF BEING A CIVIL WAR WIDOW Enos Jesse Divelbliss, one of the state's last widows of a Civil War veteran, died Friday in Humboldt at the age of 90. Divelbliss was just 24 when she moved from her hometown of Reece, N.C., to Humboldt in 1919 to marry Civil War veteran Justin Hottenstein. The two discovered each other through mutual friends, and exchanged letters for a time before they decided to marry. Hottenstein, who served in the Union Army from 1861 to 1864, was 58 years her senior. He died in 1928. She later married Charles Tilman, and after he died in 1940, she married Chester Divelbliss, who died in 1972. ''She was very proud" of being a Civil War widow, said a son, Charles Tilman, of Humboldt. In 1983, the Kansas City Star identified her as one of only two surviving widows of a Civil War veteran in Kansas, he said. Ironically, Mrs. Divelbliss' grandfather fought on the Confederate side in the Civil War, said another son, John Hottenstein, of Grandview, Mo. ''She was a very kind and loving person," said Hottenstein. Her children said she was a hard worker who was always busy with her great loves - quilting and gardening. ''She was a wonderful quilter," said Hottenstein. "I wouldn't even want to say how many she made." Kathryn Tilman, her daughter-in-law, recalled, "She loved flowers. . . . Even at the age of 70, she was still running a Rototiller in her garden." Mrs. Divelbliss also is survived by four other sons, Lewis Hottenstein of Chanute, Robert Hottenstein of Bartlesville, Okla., Paul Hottenstein and Fred Tilman, both of Humboldt; two daughters: Mary Ann Kinney of Barstow, Calif., Elizabeth Smothers of Julian, Calif.; a sister, Ellen Aggers of Iola; a nephew, Joe Moody of Ottawa; 23 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. A service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at Humboldt United Methodist Church in Humboldt.
