EPPY GRISSOM The Gold Leaf records with regret the death of Mr. Eppy Grissom, which occurred at his home West of Kittrell and about nine or ten miles from Henderson Monday morning. In his death a truly good man and useful citizen has passed away He was a man of upright character and rugged nature, a despiser of shams and hypocrisy, and as staunch a Democrat as ever lived. But above all he was an honest man and a devout Christian whose exemplary life and good name are a rich legacy to his children and his children’s children. Mr. Grissom was about 81 years old. He had been in failing health for several months and the announcement of his death was not received in the nature of a surprise by his friends. He was a man of industrious and frugal habits and leaves a good estate. The funeral was held at Antioch Methodist Episcopal church at 3 o’clock Tuesday afternoon, Rev. R.M. Andrews conducting th service. There was a very large congregation attesting the regard and esteem in which the deceased was held. Mr. Grissom was one of the main members, took a leading part in the building of the church and did much for its support. He will be greatly missed by pastor and people. The body was buried in the church yard. A.T. Barnes was the undertaker. -----------------
