Eyler, For 29 Years An Employee of the H. & F. Ry., Was Stricken With Cerebral Hemorrhage. Stricken was a cerebral hemorrhage, Erasmus E. Eyler, well-known and highly respected citizen of Thurmont, died suddenly at his home in Thurmont at 6:45 o'clock Tuesday evening. Mr. Eyler, with George Wireman, had been loading sawdust into a truck to haul it to the location of the firemen's carnival, which will be held in August in Thurmont. As he got into the driver's seat of the truck he fell over into Wireman's arms. Aid was summoned and he was removed to his home where he died without regaining consciousness. Mr. Eyler, familiarly known to his friends as "Ras," was aged 55 years, 3 months and 23 days. He had been employed by the Potomac Edison Company and Hagerstown and Frederick Ry. for twenty-nine years. In October, 1938, he was placed in charge of the Thurmont substation. He had been a conductor and motorman on an H. and F. Railway and was known to many persons. He had been a member of the St. John's Lutheran church, Thurmont, for 35 years and was a member of the Men's Bible class, the Jr. O.U.A.M. and the Knights of Pythias. He had been an active member of the Guardian Hose Company, of Thurmont. Besides his wife, Mamie Morgan Eyler, and his father, David Bushong Eyler, he is survived by one daughter. Mrs. Earl Lawyer, Martinsburg, W. Va., and the following brothers and sisters: Benjamin H. Eyler, Thurmont; Mrs. Martha A. Shank, Frederick; Mrs. Raymond Humerick, Thurmont; and Charles W. Wyler, Baltimore. The funeral will be held Thursday afternoon with services at the late home at 4 o'clock. Interment will be in Blue Ridge cemetery, Thurmont. His minister, Rev. Charles H. Corbett, will have charge of the service. The body will be at the home after noon today when friends may call. M.L. Creager and Son, funeral directors.
