Read More	Source: The Victor Record 9/13/1956 Death Claims Mrs. Erlyn Staffenbeal Mrs. Erlyn Staffenbeal, 75, passed away at her farm home north of Hartwick Wednesday evening, Sept. 5. She had been in failing health for the past five years. Erlyn Beatrice Hughes, the daugther of Henry and Edith Mae Hughes, was born Dec. 30, 1880 six miles north of Victor in Iowa County. She attended school and Sunday school in that community. On April 30, 1900 she was united in marriage to Herman William Staffenbeal at Marengo. To this union three sons and one daughter were born. After their marriage they moved to their farm home north of Hartwick, where she made her home all her life. She was preceded in death by her husband on Oct. 3, 1946 and parents and four brothers, Anilee, Eugene, Alfred Tennyson and Wilbur Hughes and one sister, Jessamine Smith. Those surviving to mourn her loss are her sons, Edward of Hartwick, Herman and John of Belle Plaine and daughter, Mabel of Hartwick. Also, one sister, Mrs. Ralph Baker of Tama and brother, Albert Hughes of Melrose Park, Ill., and two grandchildren, Mrs. Richard Zamastill and John Eugene Staffenbeal, both of Belle Plaine and a host of other relatives and friends survive. Funeral services were conducted Saturday afternoon at two o'clock at the McAninch Chapel in Victor. The Rev. William J. Fowler, pastor of the First Methodist church at Victor, was in charge of the services. Mrs. George Keller was the organist and those in charge of the flowers were Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Ostrom and Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Lambert of Hartwick and Mrs. E. L. McAninch of Victor. Casket bearers were Fritz Roth, Charles Ostrom, Frank Craig, Waldo McLennan, Melvin Gray and Cliff Williamson. Interment was in the I.O.O.F. cemetery at Victor.
