He came to Iowa with his parents when a young boy, settling north of Victor in the Hickory grove neighborhood. Read More	Source: The Victor Index 9/15/1904 Obituary Henry Hughes was born in Pennsylvania February 13, 1853 and died at his home north-west of Victor, September 7, 1904, aged 61 years, 6 months, 14 days. He came to Iowa with his parents when a young boy, settling north of Victor in the Hickory grove neighborhood. His early days were spent working on a farm with his parents and afterward he engaged in farming and dealing with live stock and grain. In 1878 he married Miss Edith Knox with whom he lived most happily until August 28, 1893, when she died, leaving surviving three boys and two girls, one boy have died in infancy. On December 30, 1895 he married Miss Dora Beahannek, who, with her little son and daughter, survives him. Besides his wife and seven children he leaves five brothers and two sisters to mourn his death. Large of body and of heart Mr. Hughes had many admirable qualities. In his chosen business he had no superiors, and a bargain made was an agreement kept, let the market go up or down. He was always ready to respond to any appeal for aid and he frequently engaged actively in soliciting financial aid for church purposes to which no one could respond more readily or generously than he. The funeral services were held Friday, September 9, 1904, at the M. E. Church, Victor, and were conducted by Rev. R. D. He married Miss Edith Knox in 1878 and she died in 1893 leaving 3 boys and 2 girls (one boy died in infancy). In 1895 he married again, Dora Beahannek with her little son and daughter survive him.
