Description	:	Lynne Freriks, age 92, of Alton, passed away on Sunday, September 15, 2013, at the Good Samaritan Village in Le Mars. Erlynne "Lynne" Lois Britton was born to Chet and Mae (Osborne) Britton on July 6, 1921, in Mission Hill, South Dakota. At an early age, they moved to a farm in the Seney area and later moved to Alton. She attended country school through eighth grade and earned her GED at Northwest Iowa Community College in Sheldon many years later. Read More	Lynne Freriks, age 92, of Alton, passed away on Sunday, September 15, 2013, at the Good Samaritan Village in Le Mars. Erlynne "Lynne" Lois Britton was born to Chet and Mae (Osborne) Britton on July 6, 1921, in Mission Hill, South Dakota. At an early age, they moved to a farm in the Seney area and later moved to Alton. She attended country school through eighth grade and earned her GED at Northwest Iowa Community College in Sheldon many years later. On August 7, 1942, she married William "Bill" Freriks, at her parent's home in Alton. Bill and Lynne owned the OK Café in Alton for thirty years. She was known for her delicious pies and desserts and made her own recipes for casseroles. Lynne was famous for her "made from scratch" angel food cakes and was often called the "cake lady". For over sixty years she baked and decorated wedding cakes and cakes for many special occasions, for generations of families. After selling the café, they moved to Orange City and managed the new Kepp Apartments. Later they moved back to Alton for a time, and then transferred to Le Mars where they were residents of Prime Living, and eventually the Good Samaritan Village. She was a member of the Alton Presbyterian Church, where she served on the Session and was a member of the Presbyterian Women. She was a fifty year member of the Order of the Eastern Star, where she held many offices, and serving as a Past Grand Officer of the Grand Chapter of Iowa. She loved to crochet, knit, and quilt, making many items for family and friends. Her hands were always busy. Lynne was devoted to her family, enjoyed dancing, and traveled for the Order of the Easter Star. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 71 years, Bill; her daughters, Karen (Joel) Boeyink, of Alton, and Nancy (Terry) Van Roekel, of Hinton; five grandchildren, Pam (Dale) List, of Granville, and their children, Tracy and Kurt; Scott (Jill) Boeyink, of Willmar, Minnesota, and their children, Jeremy (Ashley), and a great-great-granddaughter, Brinley, Nicole (Kyle), and Erica; Tom (Liz) Van Roekel, of Moville, and their children, Jaxsen, Henry, and James; Andy (Ana) Van Roekel, of Sioux City, and their children, Gracie, Quinn, Britton, Ali, and Kenny; and James (Chelsey) Van Roekel, of Merrill, and their children, Landon, Carter, and Rian; a sister-in-law, Mary Britton, and a brother-in-law, Don (Etta) De Jager, both of Le Mars; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Ethel Schneider; a brother, Earl Britton; and Bill's siblings, Don (Marge) Freriks, Mae (Webb) Mouw, Margaret (John) Bloemendaal, Helen (Randall) Stover, Vern (Beulah) Freriks, Bob (Maxine) Freriks, and Norma De Jager.
