Description	:	CENTENARIAN 102 YEARS Erma Arlene Hillgren Moles, age 102, died April 8, 2017, at Valley View Estates Health Care Center in Hamilton, Montana. She was born June 28, 1914, in Shickley, Nebraska, the daughter of Gustav Nathanael Hillgren and Mary Elizabeth Van Buren Hillgren. Erma was raised and educated in Shickley. Read More	CENTENARIAN 102 YEARS Erma Arlene Hillgren Moles, age 102, died April 8, 2017, at Valley View Estates Health Care Center in Hamilton, Montana. She was born June 28, 1914, in Shickley, Nebraska, the daughter of Gustav Nathanael Hillgren and Mary Elizabeth Van Buren Hillgren. Erma was raised and educated in Shickley. After her high school graduation in 1932, she married George Briggs and moved to Montana. A son, Jimmie Ray, was born to this union. The couple later divorced. In 1939, Erma married Leslie Moles. They celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in 1989. Erma worked as cook in various restaurants in Darby and on a cattle ranch for Clark and Evelyn Huntley in the Big Hole, where her husband worked. After moving back to Darby from Big Hole, they bought a home and acreage near town and lived there for 47 years. Erma worked as a telephone operator in the Darby office for six years, prior to dial conversion, and drove a school bus for two years. Flowers were her hobby. For these she was very well known, especially for her irises and roses. She displayed a plaque in her yard which read, “I’m closer to God’s heart in my garden than anywhere else on earth.” Erma loved the Lord and had been a member of First Baptist Church in Darby since 1939. For years she was very active in the Baptist Women’s Society and was also a member of the “Silver Crescent” Rebecca Lodge in Darby. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, son, her parents, four brothers, two sisters, two infant sons, granddaughter, Shelley Fisher and stepdaughter, Janice Oberstaller. Survivors include daughter-in-law, Dorothy Moles, Missoula; son-in-law, Ken Oberstaller, Green Valley, AZ; numerous grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives.
