The cause of death was not available. Born in Preston in Caroline County, daughter of the late Roland and Cleo Marshall Black, Mrs. Benton graduated from St. Michaels High School. After she married Curtis Edgar Benton, the couple moved to Stevensville where she worked for Acme Supermarket as a clerk. Mr. Benton died in 1996. The cause of death was not available. Born in Preston in Caroline County, daughter of the late Roland and Cleo Marshall Black, Mrs. Benton graduated from St. Michaels High School. After she married Curtis Edgar Benton, the couple moved to Stevensville where she worked for Acme Supermarket as a clerk. Mr. Benton died in 1996. She was a member of Kent Island United Methodist Church and past president of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Kent Island Yacht Club. Surviving are a son, Curtis Edgar Benton Jr. of Centreville; a daughter, Tina Houston of Stevensville; a brother, William Black of Chester; two sisters, Linda Towers of Preston and Shirley Seward of Grasonville; and five grandchildren. She was the mother of Barry l. Benton, who died in 1999, and the sister of the late Alan and Jane Black and Patra Pulley. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Kent Island United Methodist Church. Arrange ments are by Fellows, Helfenbein and Newnam Funeral Home in Chester. Memorial contributions, in lieu of flowers, may be made to Hospice of Queen Anne's Inc., 300 Del Rhodes Ave., Queenstown, MD 21658.
