Description	:	Erma Jean Reeves, 89, of Ottumwa, went to be with our Lord and Savior at 9:59 p.m. December 10, 2020. She was born November 6, 1931 in Belknap, IA to Kenneth Aulda and Cleo Olive Padget Patterson. Erma married John Bernard Reeves on June 14, 1949 at the First Church of the Open Bible in Ottumwa. She was born November 6, 1931 in Belknap, IA to Kenneth Aulda and Cleo Olive Padget Patterson. Erma married John Bernard Reeves on June 14, 1949 at the First Church of the Open Bible in Ottumwa. He preceded her in death on September 1, 2011. A 1949 graduate of Ottumwa High School, Erma attended Ottumwa Heights College and graduated from Ottumwa Beauty Academy in 1950. She was a longtime member of Northgate Alliance Church, a member of Deeds of Kindness King’s Daughters Circle for over 45 years, and was active in the PTA at Eisenhower School. She loved caring for her three sons and enjoyed attending her kids’, grandkids’ and great-grandkids’ activities. Her hobbies included writing, cooking, playing cards and attending her flower gardens. She also looked forward to packing shoeboxes with toys for Samaritan’s Purse “Operation Christmas Child” which distributes the shoeboxes to children around the world and introduced them to Christ’s love. Surviving are her sons, Kam Reeves of Ottumwa and Kent (June) Reeves of Marion; 4 grandchildren, Levi Reeves, Cassie (Jesse) Vargas, Emilie (Jon) Patterson and Briana Reeves; 4 great-grandchildren, Libby, Zoey and Penny Patterson, and Ari Vargas; several nieces and nephews including, Mike (Mary) Patterson of Cedar Rapids. Erma was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Kevin Reeves; her brother, Kenneth A. “Bud”Patterson and his wife, Valeta; and close friends, Betty Darnielle, Betty Forbes, Barb Agee, and Jeanette Cicuto. Limited open visitation for friends will be 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, December 18th at Reece Funeral Home. Private funeral services will be held Saturday December 19th at Reece Funeral Home with Pastor Bill Hornback officiating. For those not at the service, you may watch live at 1 p.m. Saturday December 19th on the Reece Funeral Home Facebook page. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery. Memorials may be made to International Order of the King’s Daughters and Sons, Samaritan’s Purse or Hospice Serving Davis and Wapello Counties.
