Description	:	Centenarian, Erma M. (Gleason) Kyes, 101, of Central City died Sunday, Feb. 26, 2012, at Litzenberg Long Term Care in Central City. Erma was born Sept. 15, 1910, in Central City the eldest of six children, to Ernest B. and Ella N. (Langston) Gleason. (Gleason) Kyes, 101, of Central City died Sunday, Feb. 26, 2012, at Litzenberg Long Term Care in Central City. Erma was born Sept. 15, 1910, in Central City the eldest of six children, to Ernest B. and Ella N. (Langston) Gleason. Erma grew up and attended school in the Central City area, graduating from Central City High School in 1928. She was united in marriage to Dean C. Kyes on April 23, 1930, in Fullerton. The couple lived and farmed in the Archer and Fairview Communities. They moved to Central City in 1968, later retiring there. Erma was a long-time member of Fairview United Methodist Church, Fairview United Methodist Womens Society, Fairview Homemakers Club, and Arbor Chapter 200 Eastern Star. She enjoyed reading, bird watching, plants and flowers, and spending time with her family. Survivors are: sons and daughters-in-law, Marvin and Mary Ann Kyes of Central City, Larry and Karin Kyes of Las Vegas, Edward and Marilyn Kyes of Central City and Deloris Kyes of Central City; daughters and sons-in-law, Rosalie and Jerry Johnson of Omaha and Joan and Dennis Moyer of Ridgway, Colo.; sisters, Audrey Smith and Geraldine Kaiser, both of Central City; brother and sister-in-law, Gerald and Delores Gleason of Central City; 22 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren; and special niece and nephew, Carolyn and David Rish of Central City. Erma was preceded in death by: parents, husband, Dean C. Kyes, son, Robert Kyes, daughter and son-in-law, Dorla and LeRoy Schroeder, brother, Harold Gleason, sister, Dorothy Ferguson, and her grandson, Monte Kyes. Interment was in the Central City Cemetery, Central City, NE. Published in The Grand Island Independent on February 28, 2012
