Description	:	Marvin G. Kyes, 80, of Central City, passed away peacefully Friday, March 16, 2018 surrounded by his family at Bryan West in Lincoln, Nebraska. Celebration of Life will be Saturday, March 24, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at Fairview United Methodist Church with Pastor Lauri Beach officiating. Burial will be in the Central City Cemetery. Solt-Wagner Funeral Home in Central City is in charge of the arrangements. Marvin was born on October 1, 1937 in Central City, Nebraska to Dean and Erma (Gleason) Kyes. He grew up in the Central City area and attended Central City High School graduating in 1955. He was also a graduate of the University of Nebraska Lincoln where he was a member of the Farmhouse Fraternity. Marvin also served in the Army Reserves. Marvin married Mary Ann Wells on May 23, 1965 in Clarks, Nebraska. Marv loved the farm more than anything and knew he wanted to be a farmer from a young age. With that, Marv was a lifelong farmer of Merrick County. He loved the smell of freshly turned earth. Marv was a 70 year member of the Fairview United Methodist Church, past Master of Lone Tree Lodge #36, the American Legion, the Shriner’s Temple, and Associate Bethel Guardian of Job’s Daughter’s Bethel No. 7 of Central City. He was a 4-H Leader for over 25 years, helped with FFA, and worked the county fair livestock show for many years where he was a mentor to many. Marv served on the County Board, Fairgrounds Board, Rural Fire Department, and School Board. He was an avid sports fan, loved playing cards, and spending time with family. Marv always placed others before himself and was willing to help whenever someone was in need. He was a loving father, grandfather, and brother. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Mary Ann; his children, David (April) Kyes of Spring Grove, IL, Chad Kyes of Chicago, IL, Jeff (Lisa) Kyes of Central City; his siblings, Joan Moyer of Ridgway, CO, Larry (Karin) Kyes of Las Vegas, NV, Edward (Marilyn) Kyes of Central City; and grandchildren, Nathan and Carey Kyes of Fremont; Joseph and Nicholas Kyes of Spring Grove, IL, and Gabriella and Bryson Kyes of Central City.. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dean and Erma Kyes; his son, Monte Kyes; his brother, Robert Kyes; and his sisters, Dorla Schroeder and Rosalie Johnson.
