Erna's family also appreciates the hospice team who made her last days more comfortable. Erna was s born on Aug. 10, 1922, to Gus Reinke and Alvina (Hertz) Reinke in McCluskey, N.D. When Erna was 11 years old, the Reinke family moved to Hardin, where she lived until 1941. Erna married Joe Q. Kemph of Custer on July 2, 1942. Joe and Erna farmed in the Custer area for 64 years. Both of them cherished the Seventh Day Adventist faith all their lives. Erna loved to share homemade bread, nut clusters and quilts made with love to family and friends. Erna was preceded in death by her loving husband, Joe; her siblings, Herbert Reinke, Fred Reinke, Wilbur Reinke, Irvin Reinke, Harold Reinke, Tillie (Reinke) Kurtz,Verna (Reinke) Kline and Helen (Reinke) Ley. She is survived by her daughter, Karen (Mel) Lich; son Joe (Karen) Kemph, Jr., three grandchildren, Kimberly (Ron) Kyle, Joe Kemph III and Travis (Dawn) Kemph; nine great-grandchildren, Shaya, Talea, Tyli, Jent Kyle, Dillon, Traci Kemph, Joe IV, Jace and Justin Kemph. She is also survived by sisters Betty (Reinke) Amundson of Pasco, Wash., Bernice (Reinke) Dickerson of Billings and Joyce (Reinke) Stoltz of Hardin. Erna always brightened at the sound of her grandchildren singing her favorite songs, and she loved to sing along. She will be dearly missed. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, March 2, at the Custer Seventh Day Adventist Church. A viewing will be held one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at the Custer Cemetery Memorials may be sent to your charity of choice.
