Description	:	ERNEST DAVID HALLOCK Ernest David Hallock was born on a farm in Dunn county,Wisconsin,September 10,1868,and died at his home in Chickasaw county,Iowa,February 15,1936,at the age of 67 years,five months,and five days. He was the fourth of a family of five children born to David and Tamazin Blanchard Hallock.The other children were Mrs. Mary McRae;Frank,who died January 20,1934;Mrs. Eva Buehrer,who died November 6,1883,and Cecil. At the age of two years he came with his parents,early settlers of Chickasaw county,to the home where he has since resided,and received an education,such as farm boys received,at the district school. He was the fourth of a family of five children born to David and Tamazin Blanchard Hallock.The other children were Mrs. Mary McRae;Frank,who died January 20,1934;Mrs. Eva Buehrer,who died November 6,1883,and Cecil. At the age of two years he came with his parents,early settlers of Chickasaw county,to the home where he has since resided,and received an education,such as farm boys received,at the district school. He made various trips to the western states,the last being in the year of 1930,which he spent with his brother,Frank,at Santa Anna,California. His sudden death came as a shock to the whole community.He had gone to the home of his nephew,Kenneth Hodge,to get the mail about supper time,Saturday and when part way home he fell in the snow.The continuous barking of Kenneth's dog brought Kenneth to his assistance and with the help of neighbor,they carried him home,where all that loving hands and medical aid could do was of no avail and he passed quietly away at 9 0'clock that evening. Besides the one sister and one brother,he is survived by eight nieces and five nephews and many other relatives and friends who will greatly miss his companionship and cheerful helpfulness. Ernie's passing leaves a vacant place which no one can fill and his cheerful smile and friendly greeting will be missed by the entire neighborhood. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at the home of his nephew Kenneth Hodge,conducted by Rev. Frank Cass.Burial was in the Alpha cemetery.
