Ernest Himmelman, died from the results of a car accident at Prince George, B.C., on October 20th., while on duty with his officer, Lieut. Corkett. Pte. Himmelman, who was in his 22nd. year, enlisted in the army in March, 1943. Himmelman, who was in his 22nd. year, enlisted in the army in March, 1943. Like many of the young men who responded to their country's call, he was always willing to give his best, and will be remembered by many as a fine example of young manhood. Always possessed of a cheerful dispostion as well as a fine character, he will be sadly missed by a large circle of friends. At the church service at Crousetown on October 30th., which was largely attended by his many friends, the pastor, Rev. W.K. MacKay, spoke very touchingly and read passages of scripture suitable to the occasion. A favourite hymn, "Stand Up, Stand Up, For Jesus" was sung as a special tribute to his memory. Mrs. Arthur Levenson and Mrs. Wilfred Crouse sang the hymn," All the Way My Saviour Leads Me" as a duet. He leaves to mourn, besides his parents, one sister, Dorothy; a step-sister, Violet (Mrs. Gilbert Hebb); two brothers, Cpl. Lester Himmelman in the R.C.A.F. and Gerald, at home. A sister predeceased him several years ago. Interment took place in the family lot in the United Church Cemetery. The pall-bearers, who were Canadian Legion members, were Walter Bell, Arthur Rhodenizer, Angus MacLean, William Brignell, Clayton Rhyno, and Roy Henderson. With thanks to Rosemary Rafuse.
