Description	:	Ernest Naeve, who was hurt in a corn husking machine, Saturday, November 1st, died at the Lord Lister hospital in Omaha Friday afternoon at one o’clock. While cleaning corn stalks from the rollers of the machine, his right hand was drawn in and his arm crushed and lacerated. He was in the machine an hour before he could be released. While cleaning corn stalks from the rollers of the machine, his right hand was drawn in and his arm crushed and lacerated. He was in the machine an hour before he could be released. However, he remained conscious and directed the efforts to free him from the machine. He was brought to the Albion hospital where he remained until Tuesday evening. The arm became infected and he was rushed to the Lord Lister hospital at Omaha. There the arm was amputated Wednesday morning and everything that medical science and kind hands could do was done, but all in vain. He sank very rapidly until the end came Friday. Ernest John Naeve was born the 27th day of July, 1911, on a farm west of Albion. He was the fourth child of Detlef Naeve and his wife Marie, nee Gerber. He was baptized into the Holy Christian church August 11, 1911 by Rev. D. Franzen, pastor of Zion Evangelical Lutheran church of Albion at that time. Like all the other children of the family, Ernest was through all the grades of public school and high school and he graduated with the Albion high school class of ’28. During all those years Ernest also attended Sunday school, summer school, and Confirmation school in Zion Lutheran church regularly. He was confirmed with the Confirmation class of Pentecost 1925. After Confirmation he did not drift away from the church as happens so frequently in our day, but attended every service faithfully and partook of the Sacrament regularly. He was a member of the Luther League. In that organization he always did his duty and did his share in brightening the corner where he was. He was always friendly, usually cheerful and a faithful son of his parents. A very energetic worker and just as energetic at play, just an ordinary healthy, strong, fun-loving, devoted American boy. The many friends his disposition won for him remembered him last Sunday when more than eight hundred friends and acquaintances were present at his funeral services. Funeral services were held from Zion Evangelical Lutheran church Sunday afternoon at two o’clock. Only a few more than half of the many who had come to show their respect could crowd into the church. Rev. J. Beckmann conducted the services. Interment was made in Rose Hill cemetery. His age was 19 years, 3 months and 11 days. Those attending the funeral from away were: Mr. and Mrs. Louis Blaser Sr. and family; Mr. and Mrs. Louis Blaser Jr. and daughter; Mr. and Mrs. Emil Mueller and family; Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Blaser; Mr. and Mrs. Julius Nyffler; Mr. and Mrs. Carl Blaser; Mr. and Mrs. Joe Wilcynski; Mr. and Mrs. Louis Borneman; Mr. and Mrs. Rudy Gerber and son; Mrs. Harry Brown, all of Columbus; Mr. and Mrs. John Imhoff and son, and Mr. and Mrs. John Gerber, Silver Creek; Mr. and Mrs. Gus Haman and daughter, and Mr. John Boss from Clarks; Fred Naeve and family, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Hellbusch, and Mr. and Mrs. Lester Bourn from Cedar Rapids.
