Description	:	Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. in Trinity Lutheran Church, rural Kenmare, for Ernest Thorvald Madsen, age 77, who died in a Minot hospital on Friday, April 20th. Rev. Roger Grumdahl officiated, Mrs. Magnus Martinsen was organist and special music was provided by Mr. and Mrs. Bud Carlson. Casketbearers were Magnus Martinsen, Efraim Pedersen, Robert Laumb, Richard Nelson, Oliver Lee and Dean Byrd. Interment was in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery with Thompson-Larson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Ernest Thorvald Madsen was born Feb. 10,1907, in rural Kenmare, a son of Peter and Anna Madsen, and was reared there. He married Marie Larsen Sept. 15, 1933, at Trinity Church. They lived and farmed in Denmark Township, Ward County, purchasing the property in 1941. They have lived in the Baptist Home at Kenmare since 1983. Active in Trinity church, Mr. Madsen was a member of the church council and had been church treasurer. He was sexton of the church cemetery and president of the cemetery association when it was formed in 1972. He was chairman of the Denmark School District for 10 years and a member of the Kenmare Senior Citizens and the Farmers Union. Survivors include his wife, Marie; a daughter, Mrs. Richard (Carol) Larson of Arvada, Colo.; three grandchildren, Mrs. Robert (Anna-Marie) Winckler and Mark and John Larson; a brother, Victor Madsen of rural Kenmare; and sisters, Mrs. Elsie Johnson of St. Paul, Mn., and Mrs. Mayfie Chew of Seattle, Wn.
