He moved to Woodson county in 1931, where he lived the remainder of his life. He was united in marriage to Margaret Martin on January 25, 1930 and to this union four children were born. He passed away on December 12, 1962 at his home near Yates Center at the age of 62. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Harold. He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, Margaret Martin Key; three daughters, Mrs. Maxine Weston and Mrs. Emma Jane Weston both of Yates Center, and Mrs. Shirley Huston of Eureka; one son, Walter Key of Toronto; his sisters, Mrs. Iva Rice of California, Mrs. Lula Taylor and Mrs. Pearl Bonnette, both of Climax; Mrs. Bessie Taylor and Mrs. Ruby Higbee, both of Eureka; one brother Roy Key, also of Eureka; five grandchildren, other relatives and many friends. Funeral service, conducted by Reverend R. F. Schaechtele, was held at the first Methodist church of Toronto on Saturday, December 15, 1962 at 2:00 p.m. Interment was in Neal Cemetery. -handwritten obit from the collection of Lila Cole *** An interesting story of Uncle Ern was that when he was a young man he and his horse were struck by lightning.
