Read More	St. Helen Star, October 9, 1931 Mrs. Joseph Rossini Passes Away After Fifty-one Years in St. Helena. The many friends of Joseph Rossini and family are sharing with them the sorrow that has entered their home from which the wife and mother, so dearly loved, has been removed by death. Mrs. Rossini, while not in robust health for the past year, was quite active and able to attend to her usual household duties, and with the aid of her daughter, Miss Laura and son Joseph L., care for her husband who has been confined to his bed for the past nine months. Last Saturday evening Mrs. Rossini was talking with her children in the evening and appeared cheerful and in her usual health. About 8:30 o'clock she retired and her son walked up town to his store. He had not been gone but a little while when he was summoned home. His first thought was that his father had passed away, but found, instead, that his mother had sustained a severe stroke of paralysis at 9:30 o'clock. A little less than an hour later, Mrs. Rossini was summoned to her eternal rest. The end came peacefully, with her son and daughter by her bedside. Mrs. Ernesta Rossini, whose maiden name was Guidotti, was born at Montecarasso, near Bellinzona, Switzerland, August 25, 1858, and was therefore only a little past 73 years of age when summoned. Deceased came to America in the Summer of 1880 and want to the home of an uncle in Santa Rosa. As soon as Mr. Rossini, who was working in the vineyards of St. Helena, heard that Ernesta Guidotti had reached Santa Rosa, he went over to see her as he had known and loved her in Switzerland. On October 18, 1880, Miss Ernesta Guidotti became the bride of Joseph Rossini. The wedding took place in St. Helena, and this town was her home the remainder of her life, most of the time in the house on Church street where she passed away. Deceased was a woman of very kindly nature and was dearly loved by all who knew her. She was always doing some kind act, was a true helpmate and a self-sacrificing mother. In addition to her invalid husband deceased is survived by the following, children: Mrs. Louise Orbell, Oakland; Mrs. Lena Van Dorn, Oakland; Mrs. Mary Greer, Oakland; Joseph L. Rossini, St. Helena; Mrs. Emma Mat, Montague; Miss Laura Rossini, St. Helena; and Mrs. Julia Tatton, Oakland. She is also survived by ten grandchildren and one brother, Peter Guidotti, of Salinas. All the children and also the brother were able to be present at the funeral rites. Recital of the Rosary took place at Harry P. Ward's funeral home Monday evening at 7:30 o'clock and at 9 o'clock Tuesday morning a Requiem mass for the repose of the soul was celebrated at St. Helena's Catholic church by Rev. Father McCarthy. The floral tributes were unusually profuse and beautiful. Many friends from Salinas, Oakland and elsewhere came to St. Helena Tuesday to pay their last tribute of respect to one who had been held in such high esteem by all. The remains were laid to rest in St. Joseph's Cemetery, the following friends of the family acting as pall-bearers: Arnold Metzner, E. A. Erickson, A. Bertolucci, A.P. Borla, P.S. Rossini and Joseph C. Corbella.
