Errick Errickson was born in Songdahl, Norway, July 21st, 1839, and died after a short illness at his home in Eureka, Kansas, December 30, 1921, at the age of 82 years and 6 months. Read More	Errick Errickson Dead For more Than Half a Century, He Has Lived in Greenwood County, An Honored and Respected Citizen. Errick Errickson was born in Songdahl, Norway, July 21st, 1839, and died after a short illness at his home in Eureka, Kansas, December 30, 1921, at the age of 82 years and 6 months. In 1861 he came to the United States and settled at Stoughton, Wisconsin. Here he married his wife Olane Baard, and resided at this place until 1864 when he moved his family to Greenwood County and located on a homestead three and a half north west of Eureka, where he lived continuously until 1908 when he retired from the farm and made his home in Eureka. Six children survive him, and all were present at his bedside when he died. They are John E. of Kalispell, Montana; Andrew M. of Topeka, Kansas; Howard J. of Hot Springs, Arkansas; Mrs. Nelse Berge, Miss Mary R. Errickson, and Albert B., all of Eureka; His wife and three daughters preceded him to the Great Beyond. The funeral was held at the home in Eureka, Sunday, January 1st, 1922, Rev. Mennenosh and Rev, Eriand conducted the services. A quartet composed of Mrs. Mennenosh, Miss Marjorie Shook and Dr. R.A. Bower, W.H. Barger, with Mrs. W.H. Barger as pianist, rendered beauful and approtriate music. He was buried in the Barrier cemetery where he finally rests by the side of his wife who preceded him nine years ago. Mr. Errickson was a pioneer of Greenwood county and belonged to that sturdy band who more that half a century ago settled in this community, then a frontier wilderness. His life was a long eventful and useful one. It was his privilege to have had a part in the developement of the civilzation we are now enjoying. He witnessed the advent into this county of the railroad, the telegraph and the telephone. He saw the begining growth and development of cities and villages in our county. He witnessed the primitive ox team give away to the swift and modern motor vehicles. He saw the fertile valleys and plains of our county transerred from useless wastes to happy and prosperous homes. He helped to build schools and schuches and was ever ready to lend a helping hand in community and public enterprises. And so this sturdy pioneer toiled and suffered and sacrified that those who follow him might enjoy the blessings, privileges and conveniences denied him and to his co-laborers...It is not at all likey that monuments of marble and granite will ever be errected in the memory of these vallent pioneers who laid the foundation for our presemt civilization in this community, but they need none---we have but to look about us to see everywhere enduring monments of their toll and sacrificeis. Their memories will be cherished in the hearts of their gratefull posterity. To this kind and indulgent husband and father; to this splendid citizen, neighbor and friend we bid an affectionate farewell. We indulge the pleasing hope that death does not end all; that mortality has put on immortality and that the work, so nobly begun and prosecuted while on earth is continued in a wider and ampler sphere.
