Read More	* IN LOVING MEMORY OF * Ervin John Ernest Meyer was born on Thursday (Thanksgiving Day); November 27, 1919 on the family farm north of Latimer; Franklin County, Iowa. He was the son of: Arthur and Mary (Immerman) Meyer. Ervin grew up in the Latimer area where he attended country school. He started farming for neighbors and later his father. Ervin was united in marriage to Margaret Bessman on Thursday; December 12, 1940, in Alden; Hardin County, Iowa. The couple made their home in the Latimer, Iowa and Alexander; Franklin County, Iowa area where they raised their family. Ervin made farming his life-long occupation. He also was a silent partner in the local business: Latimer Produce, for two years. Ervin and Margaret moved to Latimer, Iowa in 1983. Ervin entered the Rehabilitation Center of Hampton in 2009. Ervin is remembered largely for his love of flying. Starting in 1945, for the most part, he was a self taught pilot. Ervin owned and operated his own aircraft. Memories abound when it comes to all the flights Ervin made over his life. From flying into town in the winter to get groceries, to flying his daughter: Marianne to college in Michigan, to taking a minister to a conference in Colorado; Ervin's piloting experience was extensive. Ervin was a member of the Flying Farmers of America and the Civil Air Patrol. He was a volunteer for the Latimer Museum and very much enjoyed the time he spent e-mailing on the computer. Ervin was a life-long member of the Immanuel United Church of Christ in Latimer where he was baptized and confirmed. Ervin John Ernest Meyer, age: 91, passed away on Tuesday; August 9, 2011, at the Rehabilitation Center of Hampton in Hampton; Franklin County, Iowa. Those left to mourn his passing are: His children: Lawrence Janet) Meyer of Alexander, Iowa, Marianne Armento of Springfield; Sangamon County, Illinois; his four grandchildren: Tamara Mennenga, Rhonda Meyer, Susan (Peter) Grett; Courtney Armento-Irvin. Also his seven great grandchildren: Ray, A.J., Cole, Brandon,Taylor, Kellsi and Tristen. Ervin was preceded in death by his parents, his wife: Margaret in 2010; his son-in-law: Paul Armento III and his brother: Ivan earlier this year. May they rest in peace. May God bless his memory and give strength to those that mourn. Visitation will be from: 12:30 p.m. until 1:30 p.m. on Saturday; August 13, 2011 at the church. Funeral services will begin at: 1:30 p.m. also on Saturday; August 13, 2011 at the Immanuel United Church of Christ in Latimer, Iowa with Pastor Lindsey Braun officiating. Interment will be at the Marion Center Cemetery in Latimer, Iowa.
