He was born Nov. 29, 1927, to Jack and Martha (Spethman) Dye at the home in rural Box Butte County. He graduated from Alliance High School in 1945. He entered the U.S. Air Force on Oct. 3, 1951. Dye, 75 Nov 29, 1927-July 19, 2003 ALLIANCE - Erwin Dale Dye, 75, died Saturday, July 19, 2003, at Box Butte General Hospital. He was born Nov. 29, 1927, to Jack and Martha (Spethman) Dye at the home in rural Box Butte County. He graduated from Alliance High School in 1945. He entered the U.S. Air Force on Oct. 3, 1951. His tour of duty included time in Greenland, Tucson, Ariz., and Cheyenne, Wyo., until his honorable discharge July 8, 1955. He married Wanda Seidler March 18, 1956 at Alliance. Erwin farmed and raised a dairy herd with his family until 1982 when he began farming with his sons. After selling his dairy herd in 1961 he emphasized on and built his herd of Angus cows in which he took extreme pride. Erwin also served the community through the years through his participation on the Alliance Co-operative board for 11 years, N.R.D. board for 10 years as well as serving on the school board. He was a longtime member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and served on the church board. He is survived by his devoted wife Wanda; children, Chester Dye of Hemingford, Denise Dye of Hemingford, Bart and Kathy Dye of Alliance, Jack and Penny Dye of Hermosa, S.D.; and grandchildren, Karina Dye and fiancŽ Marty Jones, Trista Dye, Brianna Dye, Alyssa Dye and Chase Dye. He also is survived by his brothers Frank and wife Wiletta Dye and Jim and Judy Dye of Alliance; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Cecil and sister Betty Leistritz. Mr. Dye's funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 22, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church, with Revs. Martin T. Schnare and Richard C. Mueller officiating. Burial will be in the Alliance Cemetery.
