Mr. Behrens died June 29 at his home in DeWitt. He was born September 8, 1923, in Clarence to Ernest and Gusta Muntz Behrens. He married Ellen Long November 12,1943 in Clarence. Mr. Behrens served as mayor of Bennett for 6 years from 1969 to 1975. He was employed at the John Deere Plow and Planter Works in Moline, Ill. for 20 years. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and the Korean War. He was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ in Clarence, the U.A.W. Local 434 and The Loyal Order of the Moose in Davenport. Mr. Behrens is survived by his wife; a son, Rodney, Bettendorf; a daughter, Linda Meyer, Eldridge; grandaughters, Michelle and Brooke; a sister, Mrs. Wallace (Hilda) Wingert, Tipton and 2 brothers, Roy, Rockford, Ill. and Milton, Clarence. He was preceded in death by his parents.
