Visitation will be held Sunday, August 10, 2014, from 2-4 PM at Fry Funeral Home in Tipton, Iowa. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM on Monday, August 11, 2014, at Fry Funeral Home . Hilda was born December 19, 1917, to Ernest and Augusta (Muntz) Behrens in rural Clarence, Iowa. She grew up in rural Clarence and graduated from Clarence High School in 1937. On July 4, 1937, Hilda married Wallace (Wally) Wingert in Clinton, Iowa. They had two sons, Ronald and Dennis. Hilda was a homemaker for most of her years. She owned and operated the Tipton Greenhouse for over ten years. Hilda was a member of TTT Women and Eastern Star. She enjoyed bowling, fishing, cooking, BINGO, and RV camping, including winters spent with Wally and friends in Florida and Texas. Hilda loved the Chicago Cubs and Iowa Hawkeyes. She was also known for supporting the family's midget race car from 1945-1953 and was the one who drove the rig home from many of the races because everybody else was so worn out. Hilda is a past member of the First United Methodist Church in Tipton. She attended St. John's U.C.C. in Clarence, Iowa the latter years of her life. Hilda is survived by her son, Ronald (Daisy) Wingert of Tipton, Iowa, sister- in-laws, Elaine Hurdle of Oconomowoc, Wisconsin, and Ellen Behrens of Lowden, Iowa; grandchildren, Scott Wingert of Swisher Iowa, Randy Wingert of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Sara Ralston of Davenport, Iowa, Shelly Quinn of Tipton, Iowa, and Sherry Hall of Tipton, Iowa; great grandchildren, Simon Ertzinger, Jack Wingert, Luke Wingert, Cheyne Wingert, Kaylee Quinn, Reece Hall and Race Hall,; special friend and cousin, Duetta Schwitzer of Tipton, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Wally; son, Dennis "Denny"; and brothers, Roy, Milton, and Erwin Behrens.
